Spinning, because it's just what I've always fished with. A few months ago I picked up a Calcutta baitcaster and started attempting to teach myself and I've done fairly well casting out in the yard, not bird nesting, etc. Tied on a top water and brought it out last time I went fishing and gave up after a few attempts. I overlooked the fact that the actions between spinning/baitcasters were opposite. I couldn't get the action right using my left hand on the rod, right hand to crank to save my arse. Put it back in the rod holder and haven't touched it since. I either need a left handed bait caster or to quit being a bitch and just figure it out.

ETA: I'll bring it out next time with a spinner or a spoon or a jig to work bottom just to work on my casting technique.

All my casters are left hand retrieve. I use spinning reels for anything less than 1/8 oz because I don't feel the need to spend the $$ on a casting rod/reel that can throw 1/32nd oz lures. Also...I recently picked up fly fishing so if I'm doing that every chance I get.
