I remember a swim instructor getting really pissed with me for not floating when I was a kid. I would take a deep breath hold it and relax. She would hold me up at the surface and let go. I immediately started sinking.
Her explanation for why I sank was that I was not relaxed enough!
I guess she failed her science classes.
