Yep and The Incredible Hulk preceded The Dukes.

He also guest starred in a handful of The Andy Griffith Show episodes. He was one of my favorite parts of The dukes of hazzard. RIP.

I'll never forget watching the Dukes of Hazzard on Friday nights.

No lie - I once got in trouble for saying grace "God is great, God is good. Let us thank him for our food. Our hands we fold, our heads we bow, for food and drink we thank thee now...and please let Dukes of Hazzard be good tonight!"

RIP Sheriff

Sometimes my mom ordered pizza, my dad would go pick it up and he would come back with beer also. My brother and I would frost some mugs in the freezer. Pizza, beer and Dukes. Brings back some good memories.

Great show. At least he's reunited with Flash once again, the best dog in all of Hazzard County

I emailed him a few years ago and he was kind enough to write me back. Dukes is one of my favorite shows of all time, and Roscoe and Boss were my two favorite characters because they were played with so much charisma and originality. Rest in peace, Mr. Best.

Saw where he died today. James Best also was on The Andy Griffith Show.

Also the NYT says he was in the Caine Mutiny with Bogart (I saw the movie in passing but don't remember Best) among other legends.

Its Rosco (no 'e') Purvis Coltrane .

Rosco was always in 'hot pursuit' although he knew exactly where 'dem Duke boys' lived & could have arrested them any time

Nostalgia. Huge smile as I type.
