Way back in the 30's go look it up there's pictures.

Also but not really sure if right it used to be whoever got ball first after an out of bounds pass had possession so it kept the fans safe from fights and fans from getting involved.

I heard that from Coach Sam once during a road trip.

You don't hear it anymore, but I remember 'Cage scores', 'Cage notes' in the newspapers.

And yes, way back in the day, courts had a cage around them.

I'm 53, for the record.
