And also it would have been pretty easy to just have the initial pilot for the Endurance die somehow, and then going to Cooper as the last resort to save humanity. Cooper just stumbling upon NASA and them not having a clue that he's still alive just didn't make much sense to me. NASA for sure would have at least kept tabs on him.

Yeah, for such a long movie, they really rush that part. It's like Coop stumbles upon NASA and then ten minutes later he's blasting off into orbit. It's just really rushed.

Which makes me believe that the whole "Indian drone" side plot was completely unnecessary. They could've spent that time showing us more of Murph and Coop to make their departing mean more. It's such a weird movie in that normally movies like this build up to the person blasting off and leaving. But in this one, Coop does that within the first 20 or 30 minutes of the movie. So that bond between he and Murph wasn't built upon a whole movie. And I think they did a good job in the time that they had, but the drone part could've been scrapped altogether, or that time used to build up Murph and Coop more.

I have to believe that something substantial was cut out due to time restrictions. I look forward to a director's cut that may shed more light on that part of the story.
