50 is a crap ton, but he's not the first person to say something like that. I think it's not unrealistic to think he could score 35+ for 5 seasons straight, with a season or two right around 40. There aren't many guys who are as competitive as he is, and that is what drives you to greatness

He would have to score 13 more points ABOVE his highest scoring season to get to 50. That would be a 35% increase. And that was during an era not know for stellar defense.

If he just maintained his shooting efficiency, he would have to shoot about 10 more FGs and 4.5 more FTs per game. That being said, those shots would have to be forced and his efficiency would more than likely to decrease. In addition, since he would have to take > 50% or his team's shots (and at the expense of passing), the predictability would make him easier to defend.
