I certainly didn't... and I didn't know what had just happened until I saw the guy panicking for balance in front of me. I was pretty furious, as was he.

Understood, but both cyclists *and* drivers should not make assumptions - that kills people.
I'd add pedestrians to that category too. You can never be too careful.
