It's actually a breach of etiquette to correct someone's speech without solicitation--especially if it's not done in private or if the person in question is not a close associate (family, close friend, subordinate colleague).

ETA: Half the threads on the OT could be eliminated if you people bought a goddamned book on etiquette, a travel guide, and a job-hunting/resume guide.

In that case, you meant "were"


Eta: the misuse of cement gets to me too. If it was poured in the ground and hardened, it is concrete.
