I've never felt Harris would start the opener. There is simply no way he will be allowed to win the job in practice. Miles values experience at the position more than anything, and Jennings has more of it than Harris. I do believe Harris will get a shot to start, but not until we've lost a game or two with Jennings at the controls.

What if Jennings is the better QB?
What if Jennings runs things better?
What if Jennings leads LSU to victory after victory?
What will the Harris fan boys do?

Then how did Jennings start over Rivers and how did JJ start over Lee?

If the competition is as close as it seems, the battle may go into the beginning of the season which may not necessarily be a bad thing this year. The beginning of this season sets up nicely for both quarterbacks to show what they can do on the field without it having a negative effect in the loss column. Strong defense & powerful running game will allow for some leeway for one of the quarterbacks to separate from the other. Eventually it's going to come down to Harris' big play ability, but risk taking vs Jennings, game managing conservative play.
