So dumb that pot is this big of a deal

Come on man.... This whole pot isn't bad thing is getting out of hand. Rules are rules, you telling me it's okay for a neurosurgeon to come in high as a kite to do a surgery on your spine? The company he is going to work for says no drugs. Don't fricking do drugs. If he doesn't and makes a team he will be rewarded handsomely. Do it, and you get labeled as uncoachable and unable to follow rules. You lose millions. It's a pretty simple formula. Is weed that important in your life?
You are about to have the opportunity to make millions of dollars and you can't even be trusted to not smoke weed. So have a little fricking discipline and not smoke when you play... Smoke the hell out of it when you retire. Who gives a shite then.

It will be legal nationwide before then anyway. Its already legal in 9 states. The whole thing that gets me is how can you punish someone who plays for Seattle, the Broncos or the Redskins for smoking when its now 100% legal for recreational use in those states?

Because a football player smoking pot in the offseason is the exact same as a neurosurgeon getting high before surgery?

ETA - way to knock that straw man down

Can substitute drunk/alcohol in your example, and have the same answer. I do agree though that this is more about following the rules of your employer than it is the danger of weed. He's already in phase 1 of the NFL drug abuse program. If he fails one more test, he's suspended for two games. I would be pretty excited if this guy fell to the Saints, but I won't blame them for passing on him either.

Having weed in your system =/= being high, bro.

THC is stored in your fat cells and can still be detected weeks after you smoked. It's a joke.
