My kid is forbidden to throw anything but FB and change ups. If he gets caught throwing anything else I'll make him sit. That pretty much goes for all the other kids on the team as well.

We count their pitches, we wont let any of them throw more than 65-70 pitches a weekend. Some throw even less.

that is the way to go. I had my growth plate slip out of place when throwing a curve at 13...hated pitching after that.

IMO, Curve balls are not the sole reason kids destroy their arms. If a kid has sound mechanics and has been properly trained there is nothing wrong with throwing curve balls, just keep it to a minimum and not use it as an "out" pitch.

Not properly stretching, poor mechanics being overworked and little rest between games because a coach wants to win are the main culprits imo.
