The only team he's ever had with significant talent was his 2001 team with Jason Richardson, Zach Randolph and Charlie Bell.
Just because Izzo doesnt have teams absolutely filled with McD's All Americans every year does not mean he hasn't had significant talent during his tenure. You guys are really underestimating the talent he's had and other than Coach K and Calipari he is up there with the best recruiters of the past 20 years. Cleaves, J-Rich, Zach Randolph, Marcus Taylor, Drew Neitzel, Shannon Brown, Paul Davis, Kelvin Torbert, Ramar Morgan, Delvon Roe, Kalin Lucas, Keith Appling, Payne, Dawson, Gary Harris, etc.
These guys are all 5 star McD's All Americans or highly rated 4 star recruits just under that level and they have formed the base of all his good teams. Izzo has never had an above average team without 4/5 stars making up the foundation. He struck out the last few years with the Chicago big time recruits but has a great class coming in next year again especially if he lands Caleb Swanigan to pair with McD's AA Deyonta Davis.

I love Self.
But man, this would be hilarious.
I guess, like the Kansas fan mentioned earlier, it just depends on what you value in a coach.
In this case - if you value regular season success, it's Self. If you value postseason success, it's Izzo.
I would prefer postseason success.

Is he the best I guess that depends but he would be the guy I would want coaching my basketball program if I could hire anyone.
