PLF only works if you have drift. Doesn't do a damn thing when you are going straight down.
In 20+ jumps, I NEVER had a landing in which I hit every point of contact on a PLF.

MASTAC, Sicily DZ, was about 100 feet up, good "prepare to land" attitude (feet and knees together, eyes on the horizon, equipment lowered, slip pulled) and another jumper sky sharked twenty feet underneath me. Completely lost my concentration, legs spread apart, lost my slip. Next second, right foot (which leads to the hair line fracture in my hip), right buttocks, head (knocked clean out - got drug on the DZ for about twenty or thirty feet until our chief nurse ran me down and popped my canopy release).
