Vic Beasley will be gone.
DGB doesn't fit with Payton's locker room philosophy.

Ali Marpet
Good foot quickness with ability to reach and hook opponents. Quick out of stance and into defender. Usually the low man, using hips and arm extension to lock out and control his man. Has leg drive to drive his man backward and finish. Consistent with hand placement in run and pass. Plays with advanced technique for a Division III player. More than held his own at the Senior Bowl against both quickness and strength. Moved from tackle to guard with no issues during the week of practice. Outstanding NFL Scouting Combine with impressive showing on bench press (30 reps).
Weaknesses
Played against inferior athletic competition and wasn't challenged enough. Gets caught leaning and lunging. Lets inferior athletes get to his edge. Average with redirect. Has short legs. Needs to add more thickness through entire body.
NFL Comparison
Eric Kush
Bottom Line
Has the body type and movement of a zone-scheme center with guard potential. Technically sound and has athleticism to become an NFL starter, but must prove he can handle the substantial jump in power and speed he will see. Looked strong enough at the Senior Bowl, but he could be a year away from being ready. Ascending prospect with a chance to be one of the steals from this year's group of interior blockers.
Just screams Payton pick to me.

If Beasley gets past Chicago and Atlanta, I think he's there.
As far as DGB, that's a reach, but this is a shite class for WRs and taking him in the 2nd could pay off considering how desperate we are at the position.

Sounds exactly like Evans, Armstead, and Lelito.

Doesn't matter. Payton won't pick him if it was even BPA at the spot.
With Payton being on the warpath lately, he will stick guys with upstanding characters to keep the locker room right.

If that's true, we should have picked up Mike Wallace from Miami instead of Ellerbe.

I find it to hypocritical of Payton to stay away from low character guys as he is kind of a low character guy himself. Maybe he's trying to surround himself with high character guys that might rub off on him.

Our draft really depends on which position falls to us at 13. If Cooper or White makes it I think we take them, if they are gone we take one of the two guards remaining, if they're gone we take a pass rusher. The pass rusher to me is the BPA pick. I don't think it is what we are hoping for.
I just hope we don't fall in love with someone and trade our picks to move up.

You called the Cooks pick early, so all eyes are on you.

As it sits right now I think so. But that could change before draft time. If they the Dont fell like they can get their LB at 44 then the 31 becomes a ILB and 44 becomes WR.JMHO

I consider ILB a bigger need than WR.
Or LB in general.
But hell, we don't seem to draft for need.

Still feeling white at 13. Kendricks at 31. 2nd round a corner or tight end. If not white it's gonna be La'el. Guard this year, move to right tackle next possibly

I think the most likely candidates for the top 3 picks should definitely be G first, then either WR or ILB. Fill our needs with the best value.
Scherff at 13
Collins at 13
Jaelen Strong at 31
Eric Kendricks at 31
Benardrick McKinney at 44
Stephone Anthony at 44
Paul Dawson at 44
One of the many WR in round 2 at 44
There appears to be a big dropoff at ILB after the top 4 guys. We should easily be able to get one of them at pick 44.

If the top 2 WRs and guards are gone is there any chance we trade down?

I do too but that's what I was saying. If they feel their guy will be there at 44 then they go ahead and get their WR at 31 then take the LB at 44.

Possibly. that could really throw a wrench in our draft. We can get Cann & Tomlinson in the 2nd round...but I'd rather Scherff or Collins.
