Dale Brown raised the basketball program from absolutely nothing. I grew up during the 80's and every year I looked forward not to football season but to basketball. We owe him a debt of gratitude for putting the program at the point that whiners like basiletiger can complain about losing records when before those losing records were the norm.

Yes, some of his competitive fire had lessened. But also, in his last years LSU was gutted by NCAA sanctions over the recruitment of Lester Earl. The NCAA had a known vendetta against Dale Brown and Lester Earl apologized later to Dale Brown.

We should be praising him not criticizing him. And yes, I read the book, and it's good.
