They would if they could, but this is what happens when you sign a contract and are locked in. Both sides took risks when this contract was signed. If a guy gets hurt, should a team be able to take back guaranteed money? No. If a guy does really well are they obligated to give more guaranteed money? No. It goes both ways.

I'm with you. I just get his frustration. The guy was the lone bright spot on an extremely aggravating defense.

I have to disagree with this part. Depending on how the contract is negotiated and at what point of the contract you are in; the teams technically are not always locked in. If the team were to cut him now, they would incur a $6.9M cap hit because of the prorated portion of his signing bonus. However, they would not have to pay him anything or buyout the contract. This is the opposite from just about every other contract that exists, there is almost always a buyout clause for both parties.

Now, if Kennan wanted to hold-out he would get fined. If he were to quit and walk away/retire; he would be penalized and would shave to pay back a portion of his signing bonus.
