Best hiking in Louisiana. I spent my childhood mountain biking and hiking that trail with my dad and siblings. Know it like the back of my hand.

Starting in woodworth is ideal. Valentine creek and lake are the prettiest parts to me and good for swimming. Great time for camping right now. Watch out for coons gettin ur food and bring a good ole dog with you. Look for the bald eagle living on kincaid.

If you like camping, check out camp beauregard and red dirt up next to cloutierville

The Backbone Trail in Red Dirt has got to be my favorite Louisiana trail I've done so far. Great views and a really awesome campsite at the top of a large bluff. I made a thread a few years ago detailing my first hike there. LINK

I hiked the whole length in 2006, started one morning, spend the night at the large campground, finished around lunch the next day.

I enjoyed it, but I wish I had waited until the Azalea's were in full bloom.
