Actually, at some point, the civilian population figures they're going to die anyway and rises up because they have nothing to lose.. Vigilante groups are forming in Mexico, just like they did in Colombia. This is no solution, because the vigilantes commit their own excesses and atrocities. But the cartels have sown the seeds of their own destruction.

Unfortunately, none of it was necessary. It's the direct result of 50 years of irrational US drug policies.
