offering Paris Saint-Germain's stars a staggering £180,000 per man if they beat Chelsea.
The French champions travel to Stamford Bridge needing to score in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against the Blues.

PSG's players have already pocketed 100,000 euros (£71,600) a man for getting out of their group, with that to rise to 450,000 euros for a semi-final berth and 700,000 if they compete in the Berlin final on June 6.

Soccer hardcores... is this common?

Common among second rate clubs whose only motivation/incentive is money.

Chelsea will be playing for the crest and the pride and honor that go along with wearing the Royal Blue and will win because of it.

There are incentives/bonuses for almost all players in all sports.

The players who make the World Cup teams get bonuses for qualifying for the Finals. In the MLB, guys get bonuses for winning the World Series and making the playoffs.

It's not an uncommon practice anywhere in sports.

So basically this thread should read "PSG players won't pocket £180,000 each when they lose to Chelsea," right?

I didn't mean any hate towards PSG about this. I was just saying everyone has them but unsure at what stage they kick in at for each club.

I would see Terry, Cech, Ivanovic, each playing more for club than a bonus at Chelsea. I also feel Hazard is becoming more like this. But the majority of top players- Cesc, Costa, Courtois- aren't playing for the crest alone.
