1. Pantheon
2. Coliseum
3. Forum (do a walking your so you understand what your walking through)
4. Go to Vatican City. See Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basillica.
5. Do some of the walking tours listed in Rick Steve's book.
6. Eat at Da Fortunato
7. Tons of other cool shite to do. Great city.

All of this stuff.
Also, check out Trastevere, it's a little neighborhood in southern Rome that has an authentic feel. Really awesome riverside neighborhood, it was my (and my wife's) favorite part of Rome.
Remember to pack comfortable shoes.
Trevi Fountain is a must see, too.
