Any of you fine gentlemen have a truck bed camper? I'm going to a big festival in Arkansas in June and was thinking about getting one. Concept is really cool, and it is nice not to have to lug around a full trailer. I mean, they have queen beds, full kitchens, dining tables, toilets, and showers. They're pretty damn nice. I've even seen one with granite counters. The only negative is I'd be shitting in the bed of my truck.

I guess I'd have to bring a small generator and gas to run everything. Any experience with one of these?

Oh yeah, I have a gas 2500hd, so I'd have to figure out what size would be best

from what i remember seeing about them is that they were extremely expensive (20-25K) for what you got. for the money you would spend on a nice one you could have a nice pull-behind. i do like the concept though

Used are around $5-10k, and new they are $10-25k. I would rent one, but the only places you can do that are Canada and Alaska

I saw that a while ago, and would've bought it, but it's too long. I only have a 6.75ft bed.

Going to the RV show in Kennuh bruh after I eat some lunch

it seems to me that they would work ok, but would make the truck useful only for that...can't even go through a fast food drivethrough with that on it...

I would personally opt for a small/cheap pull-behind type....

So they had zero truck bed campers at that show. I'm glad I snuck in the side like a criminal. One of the employees at a RV place had no idea wtf I was talking about either when I asked if they had them

Maybe sportsman shows?

I've heard them mostly refered to as cowboy campers or Capri campers. When I was Rodeoing a bunch I knew several guys that had them.

Would be perfect for a single guy that travels a lot hunting

I've never seen them at any RV sales place around Louisiana. Not sure why they aren't more popular here. I always saw them in Montana when I lived there.

I'm planning to buy one but really haven't gotten beyond buying the truck (Silverado 2500 diesel around 2007 if possible). The best site I know of for truck bed campers follows. My test in all of this is - can I drive it to Prudhoe Bay? And is it good for bushwhacking on BLM land? I've got a VW camper van now that has made it to Prudhoe. Time to upgrade that.

Truck bed campers aren't for everyone, or most people really. But they do fill a specific need.
