The New Orleans Saints took another step toward getting under the salary cap Friday by restructuring the contract of wide receiver Marques Colston, according to a report by the Times-Picayune.

The Saints were about $15 million over the cap. The exact terms of Colston’s restructuring weren’t known immediately, but it likely will save the Saints several million dollars. Colston had been scheduled to count $9.7 million toward this year’s cap.

Colston, 31, is still a productive player. Last season, he had 59 catches for 902 yards and five touchdowns.
