Teachers today are not compensated on how well they teach our children, but on how well their unions negotiate.
Teachers today are having their compensation depend on what a student does on standardized test and not the growth of their students during the year. Thus students are trained all year on how to pass this one test and the retention of knowledge is lacking. The government likes the test b/c they make money off of it. The unions like the idea of monitoring the growth of the student while they are under a teacher's care.

Such a blanket statement. What about teachers who teach non-testing year grades?
