No, not particularly. You made a guarantee based on anecdotal evidence. Other people countered with differing opinions based on their experiences.
You then act as if the razors in the OP were nothing but a product of clever advertising. Then you state that you use the most widely advertised razor.

I made a guarantee?
Why are you so worked up about a differing opinion on razors?

Feather lite blades, meckur razor, and brush depends on your financial situation. I use a boar brush because it's thicker and I feel it helps "pull" the hairs up away from the skin. Shave soap is the most personal choice. A good starter one is prasco (spelling?) Then go from there. You want regret it. When you first start go slow and get used to the angles but before you know it you'll be slinging it around like a safety razor.

Ok.
Razor. Edwin Jagger or Merkur is a push. Jagger 89 lbl. Merkur 34c
Blades. Feathers are not to be feared but are not starter blades IMO. Start with Astra (green pack). Or Derby.
Brush. Just go cheap.
Mug. Just an old ugly oversized coffee mug that's in the back of a cabinet.
Websites. Badger and blade. It is a polar opposite of this place. No fights there. Almost annoying in their politeness. But they know it ALL.
later suggestion. Vintage gillettes. They are built like tanks. And just cool to shave with something from 1930-9. Which is my oldest.

I started with meckur blades and the feathers were way less irritating and cut me less. So I think they'd be ok to start with bit like I told him start SLOW.

Is this blades or the razor, you've intrigued me.

Razor. Not blades. I have some old blades but am scared. No way they can be as sharp. And not have dulled in the package over 40-50 years.

I agree. Derby was my first blade. Thought they sucked. I sucked. Got practice with first blades and feathers ARE awesome. But they cut you, and you don't know until you see blood.

Where can I find one?? If you gonna go old school might as well really go.
Posted on 3/2/15 at 9:19 pm to goatman1419
Ebay.
They are full of them. Or antique stores and estate sales. These are hard to find though.
The Bay has a ton. Gillette Tech or Superspeed are great mild razors.
A Tech with a new feather in it is awesome.
What's your birth year? Your Dad's? Grandfathers? Those are always cool.

Began date codes in 1951. They are on the base plate. Letter for the year and number 1 to 4 for the quarter of the year.

By date codes and earlier serial numbers you can buy a razor as old as you are. Or Dad. Or Grandpaw.

Single blade safety razor, brush, shave soap. Cheaper and way better shave than both.
