Striper/Hybrids on Indian Creek?

Late Saturday I was heading in to load the boat after a fruitless couple of hours on Indian Creek when I spotted some schooling activity. Dropped the troll and threw a red rattletrap to see if there were any takers. Sure enough, hooked up quick on a 5 lb striped? bass. Didn't look yellow like a barfish, but not skinny like a striper. Continued throwing until all activity was over and ended up with 6. All were 4-5 lbs with one I estimated at 8 lbs - pulled the scale out and it weighed 11.2#.
I've never done this before, and may not again, but it was like hanging into a redfish and great fun. Bent the hooks up on my trap. Are these true stripers, or some kind of hybrid? Sorry no pics, but am gonna take my son back to try it again when we get a little more sun. I'll get some then.

I have no clue how this could happen. In boat, back at launch, back at home...not one pic?

I haven't heard of any barfish around here getting to 11 lbs. Must've been a hybrid.
ETA: They sure fight like they are 11 lbs though![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I caught one a few years ago out of the Bayou Sorrel launch that was probably close to 6 lbs.
