He's not talking about stats. Sure his defenses will have worse stats at TAM than at LSU, but, from his point of view, so what. Seems he felt to much was placed on his defense to win games. Didn't get much help from the offense at LSU. Hard to disagree with that. Sure, slowing down the game and TOP all help the defense look good statistically, but if the offense doesn't score points or move the ball, it tends to leave it all on the defense to win games. That's what he is saying.

Our offense put up 30 PPG in 2013 and we sucked because he refused to pull DJ welter. In either context the excuse is bullshite

In reality it didn't matter what the score was, high or low, his issue was stopping the other team on the last drive or two to preserve the win. McCarron said in 2012 that the coaches had drilled them during the week on exactly what LSU was going to do on D in 2 minute.

So he's frustrated with the QB play to paraphrase. Bottom line is the SEC needs to put in place a tampering rule if one does not already exist. Schools should have to seek permission to speak with prospective coaches by rule.
I'm OK with him leaving, but it's the way it was done. Contacting a coach before a bowl game without getting any permission to speak with the coach at all? To boot, LSU went to bat to get them in the SEC from what I heard this morning on the radio.
