Congrats.
You win the "stupidest fricking idiot" award.

But no where near this great defense you alluded to.
You alluded to the 2013 offense being average when mett was 260 yards away from breaking the lsu single season passing yard record and JHill had the 2nd best rushing season in the history of the program.
and if 65th is average the lsu offense was above average in all but one year of chavis' tenure in offensive points per game
so because LSUs QB and RB almost broke LSUs own records, that means it was one of the best in the country? or does it mean that, historically speaking, LSU has never really been an offensive power? think before you answer, I don't want you to hurt yourself.
and while you choose to use offensive PPG (kinda like how you filtered your stats to only reflect "vs power 5") lets go with total offense shall we?
2014 - 80
2013 - 35
2012 - 87
2011 - 86
2010 - 86
2009 - 112
2008 - 55
for an offense that dominates TOP the way yall say they do, you'd think they would dominate in total offense. or at least, you know, not hover around 80.

why would I be upset that you chile and jax, 3 of the most ardent Miles supporters, disagree with me?
Posting facts about a coaches tenure doesnt mean you are a supporter or want him gone. Do i need to explain what a fact is?its a statement that cant be argued against.

No being 9th in the country in points per play and 12th in the country in yards per play does.facts

Again if you were a knowledgeable football fan youd know total offense is skewed by plays ran.yards per play and points per play is far better measurement of an offense. Lsu being a ball control offense and being 105th in plays ran skews its totals. This is common knowledge.

I wonder what his excuse was last year when he had Mettenberger. Was the offense no supposed to score points to win the game? We scored too fast? That caused strain on his defense? What about this past season? His defense was stinking it up when the game was on the line with a crappy offense? Too much strain then? Can't have it both ways. Sounds like he got greedy/lazy and I'm glad he's gone.
I hope Lesticles rubs one all over his face when they play TAMU.

ok you already said this? so how does that explain (2013 not withstanding) being around 80 in total offense?
you keep wanting to talk about 2013. is it because you literally have no other argument than "but but but when our offense was good our defense SUCKED*" (*-not true)

name me a better one. or are you just butthurt that LSU got the guy he replaced as DC, instead of getting smart? its cool, just next time remember not to believe jim kleinpeter.

Another dumbass using totals which is skewed by plays ran. Lsu was 12th in the country in yards per play and 9th in points per play but 105th in plays ran. Only 11 teams in all of cfb had better success, than 2013 lsu, when the ball was snapped.

Until smart can get from under saban, no one knows how good or bad he is.i dont care what saban says,a control freak like saban isnt just handing over the defense.

Oh my god , you've totally derailed this thread.........here is a quarter, now shut the frick up already.

Because even if you average 15 yards per play,if you dont run alot of plays your totals will be low.

Never said our defense sucked.chavis never fielded a shite defense at lsu.i said using totals is dumb on defense because it is also skewed by TOP. When looking at totals Chavis' defenses always look good but when you dig deeper to yards given PER PLAY and POINTS PER PLAY ( not skewed by TOP) his defenses look worse.

Not one person said it was. 2013 offense is the offense in question

no. YOU are the one making it about 2013s offense because you have no other leg to stand on. LSUs offense was pathetic in 5 of the 6 years chavis was here. that was my whole point. that was Chavis' whole point. I did not derail this thread, I am merely addressing all the morons who keep saying that Chavis' criticism of LSUs offense is unfounded or a "weak excuse".
did Chavis' defense blow it a couple of times? yes. does that mean he is not a very good DC? for some of you, apparently it does. I simply disagree and am still trying to figure out why LSU would let such a quality DC simply walk away to a division rival.

Well Chavis isn't wrong. The offense didn't score a single point against a team that failed to win an SEC game in almost 2 years. It was an extremely over-simplified offense that struggled against everyone.
That said, it's not like Chavis' defenses were flawless. Where were his 2 minute defenses? Regardless of how the offense performed, there were many games LSU lost in the last 2 minutes because of his defensive scheme that he failed to make adjustments for. I believe one coach publicly stated something along the lines of 'We knew exactly what they were going to do.'
This was one major weakness with Chavis, and personally don't think he was worth that much to consistently lose close games on final drives.
