I never believed, even when I was a little kid who went to church.

You can still be a person of science and have faith in God.
Which god do you worship?
Science doesn't jive with most religions or their scripture.

know churchs are a business and have to keep the lights on, but how much of their week to week messages are centered around money and tithing?
Sounds more and more like you are simply in a bad church.

I'm of course nonreligious. I can understand how you would believe in some kind of deistic god who simply created the universe, but any of the major religions of the world are such obvious bullshite. So God is "all loving" yet he creates people who literally are born only to suffer a miserable short life before they die of either disease or famine. And you have the balls to tell me that this guy helped you find a good parking spot this morning while completely ignoring those dying children? Go frick yourself

So if you believe in God you can't believe in science? I would imagine many of our early scientists would disagree with you on that. What about all the doctors/nurses/etc that work in third world countries that use their faith AND their medical training to help others?

I wish I was religious, my life is empty and meaningless, but I can't convince myself to believe any of it.
Having faith does not mean you have to believe everything that religion teach, or even most of it. Faith can simply be acknowledging that their might be something more to life and you just want to explore that possibility. Then try to find a church that you enjoy attending and just open your mind to the possibilities.

At least give them some respect.

You didn't answer my question. Religion is mostly based on scripture. Which scripture do you read and does that coincide with science?

im a moderate republican and even I can say "who the frick cares" and don't we have bigger fish to fry?
let them deal with how God treats them on judgment day, who are we to judge?
I'm also a right leaning moderate, and that's one of the things that just pisses me off about religion and the right...the judging of others who are good people on shite that doesn't matter and isn't a sin.

I was a believer until midway through my second tour in Vietnam - realized the bible was one fricked up novel - both the old and new.

where does one find a true TULIP Calvinist church in Baton Rouge?

Early scientists may be the key words to my stance. But, I really have no stance as far as an argument is concerned. I respect most religions and their worshipers.
Hats off to all doctors and nurses that do philanthropy work.

Well of course you can believe whatever you want if you start making up your own personal theology that works with science. But most of the scientific community accept that science and religion simply contradict each other

I go to church every week bc they offer free daycare during service. I sit outside and read a book. Love it.
