for me. Currently live in midtown Atlanta, about to move to Buckhead.
Birmingham is way underrated on this site. It's head and shoulders better than BR. MB, Vestavia and Homewood all have public schools that are completely acceptable. Neighborhoods are good, it's got enough to do, climate is good. Close to Atlanta, mountains and good beaches.
Downsides are AL state government and Bama fans.

Bham is not underrated, it is terrible. I lived in Hoover for 7 years. Nothing goes on outside of college football. Plus the traffic is terrible. Charlotte is a much nicer city than Bham.
