Wine seems to have an air of sophistication that beer will never achieve, IMO. I think that I have gone through the maven stages as anyone else will. Your taste will change for certain beers, you will like certain things at certain stages in tastes but you will eventually stop chasing the new hot beer and go after value.

I agree that we are ahead but not by 10yrs. I think the precedent has been set and most cities won't have the growing pains the early adopters did so they will mature faster. I remember a thread from a couple weeks ago asking something like if craft beer has peaked or was in trouble and i answered no. But after some thought I would say yes, certain markets will see growth for sure for a period until they mature but mature markets such as mine I think are going to see a contraction due to pricing

I think beer is already on par.

Maybe......all mature markets have a retraction. Compare it to the mountain bike market of the 90s....if you are that old. My favorite bike shop....GT, has gone thru some serious gyrations....and the market as a whole has cooled.....but paying $2000 for a bike vs. $8 to even $12 for a beer is a bit different....so I'm just rambling.....but the brewers selling the $12 beers....or whatever price you are seeing....are also selling normal $5 to $6 dollar beers. I just go to my observation of the mainstreaming of craft beer. Its pretty amazing what average people want to drink these days. And those people are trend followers and not so price conscious.....but as I type I see your argument. Maybe the expensive stuff will drop in price after a few years.....but again, I think the business model of most is at a lower price point for more regualr IPAs, Stouts, etc.
