Definitely. Longs peak is no joke mountain. That's another one that kills people every couple of years, mainly just from the sheer number of people that climb it. Also, a good number of those people have no business climbing either, so that doesn't help. Did you do the keyhole route or the loft route? That's one I have always wanted to climb.

Another recurring theme for mountain climbing is you need to know when to turn around. No mountain is worth your life or possibly the lives who would save you.

25 year old killed on keyhole route, Nov 2014, 3rd fatality that year

My son and I attempted this mountain a few years ago. Strong winds and an ice storm cut that trip short.
I'm not sure I would have made it pass the ledges though....I get sweaty palms just thinking about that drop.
He's done 16 14'ers in CO and I've done 14. Start with the easy ones and move on from there. We would never attempt some of the more technical mountains out there though.
Right now I probably couldn't do 10 flights of stairs...

I used the keyhole for my 3 climbs. They used to have a cable route that was shorter (maybe the loft route?) but they took the cables out after my uncle did it that way back in the 60's. The people that climb Long's via the east face are incredible. It's not that hard via the keyhole, just very long and you'd best be in pretty good shape and used to altitude. And not scared of heights, the narrows section has a spot where you need to step on a metal rod and there could be a very long drop if you screw that up. But it's not difficult to do it, just a bit nerve-wracking.
