Eta: lazy teachers and administration saw a day off work and took it fricking the rest of us
My wife is a teacher. While she is enjoying a day off (which will be made up later this year), she, in no way had anything to do with the decision. You dumb

You think teachers and administrators of schools get to decide that? That's the superintendents call.
wouldn't you call the superintendent an administrator?
and no, they aren't going to make it up because they have days built into the schedule for it

He or she is ONE PERSON. It isn't a group of administrators getting together and deciding they'd rather have a day off. In the education world, we consider "administrators" to be Principals and Assistant/Vice Principals. Superintendents are not considered administrators even if they technically are.
And your last point about it being built into the schedule, you are correct, which means during the COUNTLESS years where we have no hurricanes or snow/ice days, teachers teach extra days and don't get extra pay for it.

So wheres all the rain they were calling for? Sure never saw any Saturday, Sunday, or yesterday though they kept screaming for it.
....and Diane Deaton (WAFB) this morning said "get out the umbrellas again as more rain is on the way."
More rain?
Umbrella again?

Supposed to have been raining pretty much non-stop since Friday evening in BR area.
Yeah I was expecting a nice rainy weekend and was really disappointed by all the sunshine.

They use global forecast models that are pretty accurate 2-3 days out in a macro sense, but they are global, and not very fine grained. They can nail the forecast and still be off by a few hours and 50 or more miles. That makes the difference between a particular location getting the predicted bad weather or not.

What a joke. Must be nice to be wrong so often and not be held accountable and still keep ones job.
It's either that or become president and run as a democrat.
