From what I can tell about Jahri's work ethic and personality, he would seem to be the type of guy that knows he has not performed to his salary level the last two years. Injuries or not, a team is still paying you to perform at a certain level. If he takes a lesser contract, he will show he is committed to the team's future. If he takes the cut (and the remaining guaranteed money), he's probably come to terms with the fact that his injuries are catching up with him.

It's a pretty good decision for the Saints to force the issue and force Jahri to choose what he wants to do.
