I know you love Hunchback, so I tried to give it a second chance with fresh eyes. Sat down with Mowgli and... well, she hated it a lot more than I did. I watched the final 30 minutes without her, as she refused to finish it.

That's not surprising though. It's a kid's movie in animation only. It honestly has the most segregated film construction of any Disney film. Talking Statues that even the writers didn't know if they were real making fart jokes then Hellfire? It almost makes no sense.

It's more of a glorious film with big problems. I loved what they aimed for but understand the product to be massively flawed.

HOWEVER, it's the best animation of any Disney film, that much is clear.

I do like the King of Fools sequence, but its a film that leaves me cold. It also has an over the top villain who isn't nearly as much as other over the top villains.

I dig Frollo, I think he's one of Disney's best villains.

It is interesting to see so many lists skew to the 90s Renaissance mainly because that's when most of the users were kids. You love the Disney movies of your youth. I think more than any other, the films of that period are the most likely to be overrated (Little Mermaid suffers from a terrible protagonist and Aladdin has way too many pop culture reference, it now feels dates - still great movies, but it's enough to knock 'em down a tier)

I actually agree with this completely the only two that still stand out today are LK and Beast. Looking back, I think Beauty in the Beast is far better. My love of Lion King has cooled over the years.

Watching old movies with my kids has changed my perspective. Dumbo wouldn't have been on my top 5 before we had Mowgli. It really is timeless, and has more inventive animation than even Fantasia.

Pinnochio too, it just missed my list.
