I don't know what's so hard to understand... Matic got what he deserved in the sense that you can't do what he did... No exceptions.

Now, I don't think many or any one blames him for how he reacted... I certainly don't...

Yeah, totally agree.

It happens a lot more often than the outcry over this incident suggests that a player gets a red for hot headed moment that was completely understandable and provoked.

I could wall paper my living room in the red cards Roma has gotten over the years for very similar things.

An, like (our) Joey Barton says above. The league really seems to have no interest in policing these kind of fouls more closely because it would not only seem weak and "continental" but also would reduce the wild pace of EPL that's kind of its marketing draw.

Had he got up and started wailing on the guy I would agree with you. I would understand why he did but couldn't really justify him escaping punishment for it.

However, what he did was so soft. It's beyond laughable that something like that can result in any ban, much less a three game one.

Soccer is, by far, the worst of all sports in putting crime and punishment together. Just like a bs "foul" on a guy who has lost the ball or has his back to goal 17 yards from the net essentially equals an automatic goal in a sport where it's so difficult to score.

There is no common sense at all.
