with respect to Lent and abstaining from meat on Fridays and such.
This also raises the question of gator.
What say ye OT?

I consider both a form of seafood since they (mostly) live in the water. But I'm not a biologist or a good Catholic.

It's not meat if it can swim.

I've watched deer swim. And squirrels.

Think it pertains to warm-blooded mammals.

I like frog's legs a lot. I just wish the bastards weren't always so sticky when you eat them

I think we're going to need to get a priest in here to accurately answer this question.
Here is an article from last year that I found on nola.com.

The Code of the Canon Law was interpreted by Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond of New Orleans, while answering a question on this topic, to include the alligator in the fish family.
"Yes," he asserted, "the alligator is considered in the fish family... God has created a magnificent creature that is important to the state of Louisiana and it is considered seafood."

The OT says you should also stop believing in magic.

I can swim, am I not meat?

What's the point of "abstaining" if you're just trying to find little technical made-up nonsensical loopholes which undermine the whole principle of the idea?
The Catholic Church is in the pocket of Big Seafood.

Because I'm a bad catholic, I'm not as smart as you, and I'm a coward who just follows the crowd.
