You know the one where they get the trampoline? (trambopoline) There's a scene where it pans unendingly over the field of injured children. What is that a reference to? Is that Gone with the Wind?

dunno. I've only ever watched a handful of episodes. never could get into it. just though the references above were cool.

I was a pretty loyal Simpsons follower 15 or so years ago then I sort of fell out of it. Caught the big marathon on FXX several months ago and it sort of refreshed my memory of why its such a great and clever show.

I think trampoline episode was a nod to Platoon. That's what I always thought, anyway, since the music is Adagio for Strings.

I know Platoon pretty well and I don't remember a big panning shot like that. (Come to think of it, I don't remember Adagio either!)

I thought it was Adagio. My bad. It still reminds me of this panning shot at the end, though, w/Adagio.
