I'll answer a little differently than what you asked...

The Saints' entire FO would be considered retarded if they re-sign him given what he will command. The Saints FO is not retarded given their history. Therefore, the Saints will not re-sign Ingram.

I guess that's the other thing I don't really know. How much is Ingram asking, give or take? I think he's underrated and underutilized and would be better served on a team that runs the ball more. But if he's asking for a lot of cash then ya, I can see him demanding so much he loses his NFL career.

I don't understand why you think he will command so much money. There are a TON of free agent running backs available this season and an awful lot of them are going to be more highly coveted than Mark. I say he sticks at a number lower than he thinks he's worth, but higher than this board thinks he's worth.

The Saints' entire FO would be considered logical and smart if they re-sign him given Mark Ingram will not "command" a lot due to his injury history, the flood of other RBs on the market, and the way RBs are used today. The Saints are usually pretty logical and smart given their history. Therefore, the Saints have a good shot of re-signing Ingram.

Looks like the team will get to figure that out as Loomis has indicate the team expects to let him test the market to figure out what his value is. In other words, they appear to have no interest in overpaying at the RB position.
