That's what I am hoping. Ever since his promotion last season, Appel has pitched pretty well. He may not be the ace we were hoping for when he was selected but, even if he turns out to be a solid #2 or #3, that will still be an very valuable asset.

Imagine if he gets called up this season and pitches equivalent to a solid #3 starter (reasonable expectation - maybe even too low). Then the Astros sign an ace next offseason and enter next season with a rotation of a true #1, Dallas, Jabroni, Appel, Feldman. That rotation, combined with what we expect to be a very good bullpen starting this season, would have us right on the timeline of "the plan" to have us competing for playoffs by next season.
