I'm pumped.

I'm mostly interested in seeing how Colin Moran and Mark Appel look this spring.

Trading off Rio means they are thinking (or hoping) Moran is the 3rd baseman of the future. Hopefully he is close enough to be a mid season call-up and be the solid OBP guy with limited K's that we need in this lineup.

And then Mark Appel for obvious reasons. When he was drafted, we were hoping he was advanced enough to break the 2015 spring training with a rotation spot. With all the crap he dealt with in the minors between injuries/surgeries and just flat out sucking, many are still projecting him to be called up later this season. If that happens, all of that BS he went through would have only delayed him a few months.

I'm guessing theres no chance Moran makes the club out of ST. I'm unsure if he's projected to go to AA or AAA but if he does well in the minors, I could see trading Valbuena and calling him up. If Appel can get off to a good start, I could see calling him up for the #5 spot. Much to Jarred Cosart's chagrin.

ETA: I'm supporting Appel, I hope he works out. But damn it would have been nice to have Kris Bryant breaking the glass over the Crawford Boxes.
