Except I'm the old guy-sans the experience. (and if only it was that easy-I looked for a long time to land this one because of the obvious weirdness of it.)

Heck this board is a big impetus towards this endeavor. The years here have given me a greater interest in all things food and beverage including the bar and restaurant industry.

My new place is in a beautiful setting on the marsh in Savannah, and it will be a blast learning about how it all works.

I'm at a place in life where I don't care about advancing (for this job), and I am grateful for the opportunity.

I know it will be hard, but it sounds more fun than running, biking or lifting, all of which I hate.

You will do fine. I dabbled in this industry for 5 years before the one I am in now, and the hardest thing you will face is the lifestyles and culture of the service industry. Don't get caught up in the relationships with the other staff, stay away from going for drinks all the time at end of shift, and respect everyone - even the dishwasher.

Brew your own beer. Way more rewarding than serving a-hole customers.
