I love golf and play every chance I get.

Guess what? A bunker has never blown sand directly into my eyes while I'm shooting. A lake has never shifted 30 yards forward to take my ball. There aren't any random stakes that shoot out of the ground like a wack-a-mole and stop my ball.

I know you're trying to be creative and more clever than everyone, but an inanimate tract of land isn't playing defense on you. To suggest that grass/water/sand is "playing defense" is quite frankly pretty stupid. Are there varying degrees of difficulty? Duh, of course. Some courses may be wide open and ripe for a below par round while some may be damn near impossible where you're lucky to shoot double digits. That doens't mean that your score 100% depends on how YOU and only YOU shoot that day.
