Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are incredibly boring. Half of the people there are over 50. Pigeon forge is nothing but go cart tracks and "flap jack" restaurants and Gatlinburg reminds me of a G-rated French quarter. Unless you're looking to spend time with your grandchildren, I suggest avoiding both cities at all costs. I went with my family several times as a child and once recently. I hated it every time.

If you don't leave town that's all there is to do. I always make plans, but end up banging my GF all day and getting drunk. Good times.

Don't waste your time getting shite faced. There are lots of things to do besides drink. Its March hit ober up and learn how to ski. My wife and I went there and we loved it. I fell down that goddamned mountain though and it hurt like hell so wear your helmet. Ober is worth the money though.

It's a phenomonenon, really. Second only to Destin threads in the summer. The same crowd frequents both.
Gatlinburg is one of the most shockingly bad towns (I guess a strip of fudge shops, Ripleys museums and hotels could be considered a town) you will ever visit. The smokies are beautiful but Gatlinburg really takes the shite cake.
