If he goes to UK or Kansas he is starting. But if he comes to LSU you "get him in the game" because you know Hornsby or TQ can contribute? If only Cal and Self knew how to evaluate talent.
If it wasn't for the one and done rule this kid would be a lottery pick. But you're reluctant because he hasn't proven anything in college and Hornsby and TQ have? Actually, what have they proven? That they're better than the other guys on the bench?
C'mon man...Hornsby and TQ are solid college ball players. They're not game or program changers like Newman is. There is a reason no one is saying, " man with Benny and Blakeney next year, if only we can get QT back we'll be unstoppable." But you add Newman to the mix and you're talking Final 4 good.

A big part of the reason he would start is because there would be a void left at those schools by guards who have gone to the NBA. It would be as much out of necessity as it is the fact that he is projected to be a great player. At LSU you would have two guards that have proven they can give you 13 and 12 a night in sEC play. If he can equal that or give you better, then no question he's your starter. But as far as coming into a situation where you know you will be the starter and always play big minutes, UK and KU are better because he will HAVE to be the guy to take those minutes.
Martin was a McDonald's All American coming into last season, but you saw several occasions where Jones played Coleman more because he knew what Coleman brought to the table. I'm not saying that LSU shouldn't do everything they can to get him. I'm just saying that UK or KU might be a better spot for him because he knows he has to replace starters who have moved on at those schools. LSU doesn't HAVE to have him replace their productive starters who have moved on.
