How did LT "revolutionize" football when Rickey Jackson came out the exact same year and Andre Tippett came out one year later and they did the exact same thing that LT did.
Because LT was a unstoppable nightmare at outside SAM LB. You can't compare those two guys to him. He had way more sacks than them and just created matchup problems all throughout his career. His size and speed caused them to change the game by creating athletic OT's that could handle that type of player. And I'm not sure they could stop him still if he was in his prime.

LT and Rickey are somewhat comparable, according to pro-football-reference.

They both played 13 (81-93) seasons at OLB (omitting Jackson's 2 at DE in SF). In that time:

LT has 17 more sacks (slightly over one more per season)

LT has 2 more INTs

Rickey Jackson has 16 more fumble recoveries

Rickey Jackson had 38 more forced fumbles

Rickey Jackson has a safety. LT does not

LT has 2 career touchdowns. Jackson has zero.

LT always played on the weak side. Rickey always played on the TE side, so he really had more responsibilities than just rushing the passer.
