What an improvement on the original. As I've probably said before, the original Bayonetta is one of my favorite games from last gen.
This game took everything that was great in the original and made it better.
10/10
Definitely gonna do some more playthroughs.

Have only heard good things.
Bayonetta 1 was pretty good / underrated.
Intense boss fights. Addictive game play

Yea, definitely underrated on the original.
This one increases the over the top boss fights and improves the area that the other was really lacking, the story.
Well done there.

I played the demo but at times there was so much shite happening on screen that I didn't know wtf was going on or what my character was doing

It is a quintessential hack and slash game in the element of old school Devil May Cry.
Stuff is going crazy sometimes, but you get a handle on it quick.
Plus, the enemies are set up where they won't attack you from behind if they aren't on the screen. The only ones that will are ranged opponents with telegraphed attacks that you can dodge.
ETA: The addition of Umbran Climax was also awesome. Magic always seemed like a 2nd thought in the original. Now, increasing your magic gauge pays off in spades.

I've never really played a hack combo game like this so I do want to try it. The closest I have played is GOW 1 and 2. I feel like I should try something else

I've never played GOW, but if you don't like over the top, humorous gameplay with an overly sexualized protagonist who kills angels and demons with weapons strapped to her hands and feet while summoning monsters to do her bidding in order to save the world, then this game isn't for you.

Well I have no experience with that I never played DMC either. I may try the new one.

I played the demo which was cool. What's the meta game here? Story? Progression system? Cool unlocks?

The story mode isn't exceptionally long, but it is meant to be replayed over again on different difficulties in order to unlock items and hidden bosses.
There is a multitude of items to unlock, including outfits such as Princess Peach, Samus, Link, Star Fox, among others. There is also a large number of weapons, each with their own benefits and strengths, that you have to either find items to unlock or beat certain bosses to get.
Plenty to keep me busy.
I beat the game on 2nd climax, essentially "normal mode," and started playing it again on 3rd climax (hard) in order to unlock infinite climax (nightmare).
There is also a MP mode which I have yet to mess around with.
