Redshirt rules are complicated. Kids can play at the beginning of the year as long as they play in seven quarters or less. If they play in eight quarters they lose there redshirt. That's why they try to get the kids PT early in the year then they shut them down unless injury calls.

I thought once you played; you couldn't redshirt.. unless you got injured of course. but otherwise this 7 qtr thing is new to me
