My dad used to own 20 acre of land on the east bank of St Charles Parish. While he didn't have mineral rights, he did have batture rights and owned the land right up to the middle ot the river.
He may own to the "ordinary (mean) low water line." The State of Louisiana owns the bed of the Mississippi River (and the bed of all other rivers that were deemed navigable in 1812) from mean low water line to mean low water line.
