Ins. defense is no better than plaintiff work

Insurance defense is probably 10% of my work and primarily relates to one specialized insurance company. I rarely handle any liability work and when I do it either settles quickly on account of my client's low litigation risk tolerance or is clearly frivolous and beaten back easily.
What I've seen in my prior work is about 80% dubious 20% legit on the liability front. I've never seen a truly injured person get jacked around in a case I've personally been involved with, but then, I don't consider someone who rear ends someone and has an unfavorable police report with 10k in chiro specials seeking 80k in generals to be "truly injured," either.
