that is false, especially for free throws. at one point earlier this season I think it was Hornsby that pulled him from the low block and switched because he is so bad at blocking out.
That can happen if another team's big guy is at the line. As SoS mentioned, sometimes the other guy is just faster to a spot. That and he really just isn't strong enough of a rebounder. But to claim that he "refuses" to box out is just flat wrong. There are plenty of plays where he blocks out and someone else on LSU picks up the rebound... as it should be.

Additionally, he jumps out to help on a lot of drives (not usually from one side of the basket to the other) so his man will be free to rebound unless someone else picks him up for a box out.

You're right. I always watch him when shots go up and he does make the effort, he's honestly just a poor rebounder due to lack of strength and physicality.

Focus on him next game. He is completely lost when it comes to rebounding a basketball. Want to hear an amazing statistic? In SEC play Darcy Malone has played 112 minutes and has 5 defensive rebounds. That number is absolutely crazy for a 7 footer who spends most of his time around the goal. These coaches have got to get him to play more aggressive inside.
